Chameleon's

When I was living on the Big Island of Hawaii I had the pleasure of engaging with small, little creatures known to us as Chameleons. I have sometimes thought of myself as a Chameleon because I can wear many different hats, relating to all kinds of people. I also enjoy fashion and clothing and kind of creating my own unique style. In the wine industry I am constantly meeting people of all different walks of life. I can not stress how important of a skill it is to be able to really look beyond appearance and talk to someone while looking them in the eye. You are committing to knowing there soul, not there costume. I love costumes I pick one out everyday to wear to work and for play which is a blast for me....it lets your imagination run wild. However, when I meet someone new the most important focus for me is looking at their soul and not their armor. Appearances can fool the human eye. And humans, just as animals have different strategies of survival. Positioning yourself correctly is very important along the path. When you feel someone or something has walked with you long enough, but now it is time to take a new turn in order to reach your highest self, you must do it. What does truth feel like, look like, taste like? For me it is light blue and pale yellow, it smells of freshly pressed coffee and my mama's homemade chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven on a sunny afternoon in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. It smells like the plumeria flowers of Hawaii, it feels like the blanket with the satin trim that I had as a child. Use experience to decipher truth and the goodness in a person. Remember this when you feel uneasy or unsure. This is not taught in a book, but is found deep within. We all have it, we just have to dust off the bookshelf, move back the cobwebs and take a long, deep breath.
